I have been in a season of survival in which I’m holding on by my teeth as the world and Satan throw difficulties my way. I’ve recently realized that I am not a victim but a Child of God and I was made to thrive, not just survive. My mantra going into this next season of life comes from the new Casting Crown song, We Were Made to Thrive. Here’s the first verse…

Here in this worn and weary land
Where many a dream has died
Like a tree planted by the water
We never will run dry

So living water flowing through
God we thirst for more of You
Fill our hearts and flood our souls
With one desire

Just to know You and
To make You known
We lift Your name on High
Shine like the sun make darkness run and hide
We know we were made for so much more
Than ordinary lives
It’s time for us to more than just survive
We were made to thrive

I was made for so much more! The truth of this has been settling in over the past few weeks and as I begin to walk in this new season, we are sending a Freedom’s Healing team to Cambodia. So many of us, Americans and Cambodians both are just surviving, when we long to be thriving. Over the years, the leaders of our FH teams have realized that many of the diseases in Cambodia are preventable. It often seems the Cambodian communities we have been serving over the years remain in survival mode due to an inability to access consistent and proper medical care. This very issue is one of our root causes of trafficking. Through our FH trips we provide critical health care education on disease prevention and nutrition that empowers the Cambodian’s to make better decisions that will drastically impact their health. If their kids aren’t sick and incurring medical bills or causing parents to stay home from their jobs to care for them, mothers won’t face as many difficult financial dilemmas…in turn, protecting both the children and mothers from becoming victims of human trafficking.

Will you stand with me in prayer, September 19-30 as our team of medical professionals, community outreach individuals, and FP staff travel to Cambodia to set up medical clinics, provide health education to our communities, and provide community support? Will you pray for our team’s health and safety as they travel? Will you pray that God makes a way for His divine purposes during this trip and that His light will guide their paths?!
