Earlier this week, four Nashville massage parlors were raided after a five week long investigation revealed that the parlors were part of a prostitution ring. The parlors that were raided include:
- Golden Massage- Green Hills
- Daily Massage- North Gallatin Pike
- ABC Massage- Franklin Pike
- Acupressure Treatment Center- 4th Ave South
According to Assistant Metro District Attorney Antoinette Welch, business owners, employees and clients could be charged under the state’s Trafficking for Commercial Sex Act. Under this law, those that are charged and found guilty could receive up to 25 years in prison for trafficking within 1,000 feet of a school; Golden Massage in Green Hills was no more than 225 feet from a school. Many of the female employees could face charges of solicitation and prostitution if found to be willing participants. So far, three women have been arrested for allegedly promoting prostitution and trafficking for commercial sex. Most of the girls found in these four massage parlors are of Chinese decent.
As a community here in Nashville, this raid should be a devastating eye opener to the reality that each and every day around us, trafficking of women is taking place. It is vitally important to listen to your instincts and report any suspicious activity that you feel might be an element of sex trafficking; it is always a higher cost when you say nothing, than when you speak up.
