Amber Barron first became aware that sex slavery existed in 2006 when she read an article about Somaly Mam, a Cambodian woman who escaped from slavery as a teenager and now rescues and rehabilitates young women. Zeb's vision for Freedom's Promise was birthed from a month long trip to Cambodia in August 2007. After hearing and seeing the atrocities suffered by the Cambodian people they were compelled to action.

Their life is now dedicated to preventing child slavery by narrowing the gap between the rich and the destitute through better education and opportunity. Education and economic empowerment are tantamount to raising those most vulnerable above the fray that would dehumanize and enslave them. The Barron's live in Nashville, Tennessee with their children, Asa and Eden.
